For our location in Eiterfeld we are looking for someone (full-time) starting at 01.01.2027 as:

Head of Mechanical Design (m/f/d)

As the Head of Mechanical Design, you will be responsible for the technical and organizational leadership of the design team, as well as for the mechanical development and refinement of our CNC milling machines. You will assume technical responsibility for design solutions and oversee development projects from the concept phase through to production readiness. Working closely with R&D, Production, Purchasing, Service, customers, and suppliers, you will ensure efficient, quality-oriented, and cost-effective implementation and drive the continuous improvement of products, processes, and standards.

Responsibilities

• Technical and managerial leadership, organization, and further development of the Mechanical Design team

• Technical responsibility for the development and design of mechanical assemblies, components, and machines, as well as active participation in challenging design tasks

• Management and prioritization of design activities, as well as capacity, resource, and schedule planning within the area of responsibility

• Ensuring technically and economically viable solutions that are suitable for manufacturing and compliant with standards, as well as defined quality standards and complete technical documentation

• Coordinating technical matters with related departments, customers, and suppliers, and providing support for technical clarifications, change requests, and complaints

• Further developing design standards, methods, and processes, and implementing digitization and optimization measures in close collaboration with the Head of R&D

Profile of requirements

•    A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a comparable technical qualification, e.g., mechanical engineering technician

•    Several years of professional experience in the development and design of machines, ideally in machine tool or special-purpose machine manufacturing

•    Experience in technical and managerial leadership, as well as in organizing and managing a technical team

•    Excellent knowledge of 2D/3D design, ideally SolidWorks, as well as a solid understanding of manufacturing, technical documentation, and mechanical principles

•    An analytical, structured, and independent work style with a strong sense of quality, responsibility, and cost awareness, as well as a high degree of initiative and a solution-oriented mindset

•    Strong communication skills and good written and spoken German and English

•    Soft skills
